Big Red Bash Artist Announcement

Jimmy Barnes, Jon Stevens & Diesel to rock the outback at the third annual Birdsville Big Red Bash

"Coming out to Birdsville is a special thing, but coming out with Jon and Diesel makes it even more fun. It's a place that I've never been to before - and I've been to most places in Australia. So really looking forward to getting there - we're goi ng to rock and everybody on the bill are friends, so look out we don't know what's going to happen. See you at The Bash!" - Jimmy Barnes

Australia's rock icon, Jimmy Barnes will headline the third annual Birdsville Big Red Bash , an iconic outback two-day desert music festival on July 5th and 6th, staged at the famous Big Red sand dune on the edge of the Simpson Desert out side Birdsville in Queensland.

Accompanying Barnes on the bill are fellow rock leg ends, Jon Stevens and Diesel, along with country music trio, The McClymonts and Aussie larri kins of music and stage Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde, who will rev up the crowd with light- hearted banter and captivating musical performances. Victoria Edwards will return for her second Big Red Bash, while Heels on Wheels and Mick Lindsay will join the journey to the outback.

The 40m high Big Red sand dune will provide a breat htaking backdrop to the artists performing on stage and is often described as the most spectacula r outdoor concert venue in Australia. The McClymonts will be venturing to Big Red for the very first time and they are excited to be performing at the once-in-a-lifetime concert, sayin g that they can’t wait to rock the desert.

“Birdsville is one of those iconic Australian locat ions that you hear so much about and we are excited to finally get the chance to visit there. Y ou can't get any better than playing in the outback with the red dunes as our backdrop. To ever yone making the huge road trip, and to all of the people flying in, we can't wait to rock the sta ge and party hard with you at this year’s Big Red Bash!” the sisters said.

Frankie J Holden said, “Every Australian should exp erience ‘red dirt’ country at least once in their lives and the Birdsville Big Red Bash is a perfect opportunity to do just that. I’m looking forward to the Bash tremendously: the music (of course), but a lso the journey, the destination and the camaraderie.”

The Birdsville Big Red Bash last year hosted James Reyne, Daryl Braithwaite, Kasey Chambers and John Williamson to name a few.

After experiencing Big Red first-hand, Kasey said, “To stand on stage and have that massive sand dune behind you and all these beautiful people out the front... It's pretty special.”

The popularity of the line-up and location saw crow ds double the previous year at the unique setting, where light projections showcasing the gia nt red dune compete with the stars on stage and the dazzling starry night skies to amaze the au diences.

Jimmy Barnes has had a celebrated 40 year career in the Australian music industry as the frontman of Cold Chisel and a as successful solo ar tist. He has released 14 studio albums over the past 30 years, with nine of those albums reaching n umber one – more than any other Australian artist.

Birdsville is one of Australia’s most iconic outbac k towns, perched on the edge of the vast Simpson and Sturt Stony deserts and the famous Channel Coun try. Despite its isolation and wild foreboding country, it has been named Queensland’s friendliest town and its famous pub is noted for true outback hospitality.

Tickets will go on sale 9am, Wednesday, 25 March 2015. Fans are advised to get in quick and purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Tamworth Country Music Festival 2015

Travelling over 2000kms, after completing 7 nights of work at a coal mine in central Queensland, we made it to the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth 2015 and enjoyed an event filled 10 day. We finished in style attending The Toyota Golden Guitars – Country Music Awards of Australia. Amber Lawrence was awarded Female Artist of the Year; Album of the Year went to Kasey Chambers, whilst Luke O’Shea took home three Golden Guitars including Heritage Song of the Year, for the third year in a row; APRA Song of the Year; and Male Artist of the Year.

Over 50,000 people, thousands of shows, and an amazing array of sounds and styles lit up Tamworth for ten days of song and fun, in what was one of the best festivals yet.

With an unusual comfortable performance schedule this year, I performed at many guest spots and made appearances throughout the festival, including the Toyota Fanzone Stage. This great initiative enabled us to get up close and personal with fans and was one of my most enjoyable performances.

I also linked forces with two other acts Innocent Eve   Victoria Edwards to form the Heels on Wheels Show. We performed three shows at Enrec Studios in Tamworth, which were the highlight of my festival this year.

Anther highlight was attending the prestigious Toyota Star Maker competition, which was as fierce as ever, with an array of talented hopefuls turning out to battle it out, with Mickey Pye taking home the grand prize in the 36th annual competition. It would have been a terrible job being a judge this year as the competitors made the choice impossible.
